On this Fashionable Friday, I thought I’d share with you 5 fall essentials. This is a list of 5 of my favorite things I just simply cannot live without during this fall season!
Fashion has always been a big part of my life. Of course, when my children were younger it got pushed to the back burner quite a bit. I spent many days in my sweats and t-shirts. It took me a little while to get out of that trap of thinking clothes had to look frumpy to be comfortable. I realized those “comfy” clothes were holding me back. They were keeping me from letting my own style shine. They were actually contributing to making me feel just as tired and mundane on the inside as I did on the outside.
Today I am going to share with you a list of the top 5 fashion books that will help you get your classic style back:
This is a great 30 day motivational guide to getting your style back.

More than a style guide, this book connects your faith with your fashion.

This is a great guide to help you purchase clothes that fit not only for yourself but gifts for loved ones.
Come on now! Get out of that rut, and let your personality and faith shine through your personal sense of style. You are beautiful from the inside out!
It’s unseasonably like fall here in SC. I say “unseasonably” because here in the southeast it doesn’t begin to cool down for at least another month or so. However, it has been considerably mild and much more like fall in the earlier hours of the day. This southern belle adores fall so this is my kind of weather. However, it does make it difficult to dress for the weather. On days like this, we need to dress in layers. Layering is great if you have good foundation pieces. It’s a smart idea to invest in some nice tanks with wider straps that can be worn alone in case it’s hot outside. You can where foundation pieces by themselves for one look and then add accents and accessories like sweaters to make a whole new outfit.
Layers are great because you can begin your day dressed in warmer clothes for that crisp morning air. As the day progresses and the sun brings warmth, you can remove a layer or two and still be comfortable.
Fall colors are lovely too! This year expect to see colors like rose, mauve, yellow, royal blue, and majestic green. I gravitate toward jewel tones so I am going to be loving the colors this season!
To create a great layered look, choose a nice tank that has just a little bit of interest, like this one which has an eyelet lace neckline. I’m a sucker for lace! This tank is great because the detail is at the neckline which draws the eye up to the face.
The last thing to do is layer on the accessories. You could wear a combination of necklaces, bracelets or earrings. You could also wear a scarf if you don’t have any detail on your tank at the neckline. Accessories can mix match but they can also match in the case of these two leopard print items: the shoes and bracelet.

Welcome to Fashionable Friday! I’ve always been interested in fashion, and now that my children are getting older I have a little more time to devote to this area of my life!
I am so ready for fall weather. It will be here before we know it. I just adore fall fashion. Maybe that is one of the reasons it is my favorite time of year. I have to say last fall I was on the fence for a while on whether or not to buy a pair of leggings. I used to wear them back when they were in style in the 90s, but we ALWAYS wore tunics or dresses with them. Leggings are tights. They are not pants. My hesitation to wearing leggings stemmed from the fact that I had been overweight for so long. I also turned 40 last year and wasn’t sure I was “young enough” for leggings. I also was concerned because I did not want to be associated with a trend that has become somewhat distasteful and immodest.
However, my sweet daughters encouraged me to buy one pair of black leggings. They said 40 was young, that I was in good shape, and that I could pull them off. I had several tunic type tops already so I gave it a shot. So, I purchased some on sale in late winter last year. They are really comfortable, and I enjoyed wearing them a few times before the seasons changed.
I have some fashion advice for young women and those of us who are young at heart:
Leggings are like tights or thick pantyhose. They are not meant to be worn with shorter tops like your jeans. Your front and back hip area is meant to be covered when wearing tights. I feel sure you can deduce why it needs to be covered. I am not even going to explain it, but attention does not need to be drawn to that area. That is better left to the imagination.

Many of these styles come in various colors to choose from. They are versatile, fashionable, and modest. Remember clothes you wear reflects the image you want to project. As a daughters of the King, we want to glorify Him in all we say, think, and do–and that includes what we wear!
